Re: Maximum Project Duration

Maximum project duration is set in the Project Settings dialog box. The maximum duration can be set using days, months, or years. This setting creates a project deadline that is used during Monte Carlo simulations to measure the project success rate of meeting this deadline. Success rates can be vie...

Re: Does the number of iterations matter depending upon the size of the project?

No, there is no correlation between the number of iterations and activities. The number of iterations is more dependent upon things such as risk probabilities and complexity of the precedent network. For example if I have a black swan risk (low probability, high impact), I want to ensure that it is ...

Re: Concurrent users

RiskyProject Enterprise support both named and concurrent users. We generally recommend our clients to use named user licenses: it is cheaper and more reliable. Sometimes concurrent licenses are in immediatly released when the user shuts down access to RiskyProject Enterprise. However in certain cas...

Re: Maximum number of risks

Theoretically there is no maximum number of risks. However, the question is what value is being produced by having hundreds of risks listed in your risk register. The reason why we list them is so that they can be managed, and it is if not impossible, extremely difficult to manage hundreds of risks....

Re: Sorting Risk Register

RiskyProject’s risk register provides many options to sort a risk register based on any property including risk categories. To sort based on risk categories, you need to use the Hierarchy based on drop down list located at the top of the risk register. From the drop-down list, choose Categories. htt...

Re: Multicore processing in RiskyProject

RiskyProject uses multi-core processing to calculate the iterations of the project schedules. While it does not use all the cores, it will use as many as the operating system allows it. For example, if you had a dual quad core system, typically you will see that RiskyProject will use all cores when ...

Re: Probabilistic vs Weather Calendar

You should use weather calendars when you have historical weather data, if not, or you are modeling a schedule that could shift due to non weather related causes. Weather calendars are useful when you have historical weather records that can be used to estimate the normal ranges of weather related n...

Re: How do Task Types work with Monte Carlo

Task types are set in the Task Information > Advanced tab. http://www.intaver.com/images/RP_Forum_Advanced.png To understand how Task types work it is useful to think of a 3-sided triangle in which the sum of the lengths of the sides always have to add up to fixed value eg. 100. With the added condi...

Re: Maximum task duration

RiskyProject has a define maximum task duration of 7300 days. Keep in mind that it is considered best practice to limit tasks to a maximum of 44 days by the DCMA 14 points inspection. Obviously, there are exceptions, but it is best to break down tasks to the smallest possible discrete activities.

Re: Maximum task durations affect on the simulation results

It depends on the action that you select if a deadline is met. No Actions: displays a deadline indicator but will not affect the results of the simulation End task: ends the task any time the deadline duration is exceeded, so the simulation results will not show any duration greater than the deadlin...

Re: Modifying Risk Matrix colors

As long as you know the colors that you want to use for your risk matrix, you can modify the risk matrix colors very quickly On the Ribbon, go to Risks > Format Risk Matrix. The Format Risk Matrix dialog opens. We recommend that you set up your color palette first. You can defined your custom palett...
