Support for Risk Libraries

Post by BonnieTraylor » Wed Apr 14, 2010 11:17 am

Hi,

At work we have a "risk libraries". These risk libraries are actually lists of risks that been created that we can apply to either specific clients or product types. Is there anyway that we can use libraries with RiskyProject.

Support for Risk libraries

Bonnie,

Thanks for your interesting post. In RiskyProject, before we had the integrated risk register, we had Risk Templates ( and still do). These are lists of risks that can be saved as separate files and loaded into the project via the Global Risk View or from the Risk tab of the Task Information dialog box.

Depending upon what format your risk libraries are in, the could be converted into the Risk Templates.

Alternatively, the risk libraries could be added to the risk register and each risk could be given a custom property to denote what library they belong to. In this way you could "load" only those risk that have a certain value for this property into the risk register.

We are currently looking at workarounds and/or solutions to migrate pre-existing libraries into RiskyProject.

If you have any other questions, let us know. We will post any updates we have on this here.

risk libraries

What data will or should the risk libraries have? We are currently looking at implementing a risk management process and one item that came up was risk libraries or risk lists.

Risk libraries

Often risk libraries are often specific for specific types of projects or businesses (operations).
Depending on your particular needs the risk library should be a list of risks. Each risk can have different or alternative historical probablities types of impacts (different areas eg. cost, schedule, safety, etc.).

And where appropriate periods of exposure. When during an activity or project can the risk start to occur, end, and when it is most likely to occur. In RiskyProject this is called the moment of risk and can be defined by a uniform or triangular distribution.
