Customizing Uncertainty Bands

Post by Ken »

Just downloaded your software and noticed that when I select a task or tasks and right-click to bring up the context menu, a Duration Bands menu appears that appears to calculate duration ranges based on the coefficients. Is it possible to modify these bands and where can I do this?

You are correct, uncertainty bands to calculate Low, Most Likely, and High durations and costs for activities based on your assessments of the inherent risk that tasks have.
The dialog that allows you to modify the uncertainty bands is located on the Risk tab > Distribution group.

1. Click the Uncertainty Bands icon top open the Uncertainty Bands dialog box.
2. Each row represents a band. Define the Name, Low, Most Likely and High coefficients, color and note for each band.

Note: The Most Likely is used to adjust the base duration of the deterministic schedule. If you do not need to adjust, which is often the case, leave the coefficient as 1.00.

3. Click Using Risk Bands to assign uncertainties to groups of activities
